  • 2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter at room temperature, plus more for buttering the pans
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
