Farfalle with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

I always keep the ingredients for this on hand, because it's a great dinner to fix when you're short on time.  The sausage adds a kick of spice (and protein) and the cream mellows it out.  The tomatoes round out all the flavors and make for hearty, flavorful weeknight dinner.

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound sweet Italian sausages, casings removed
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • One 28-ounce can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream
  • 1 pound farfalle (bow-tie pasta)
  • 1/2 cup (packed) chopped fresh basil
  • Freshly grated Pecorino Romano cheese
