Boozy Apple Cider

Every year we go to the same pumpkin patch to indulge in a HUGE bag of sugary apple cider donuts, find our way through the corn maze, pick out the perfect pumpkins AND get at least one gallon of the best fresh apple cider.

I was looking to try new recipes with the cider, so, naturally, the first one I tried was a cocktail. Bourbon seemed like a good idea, so I convince my husband to lend me some from his stash (in exchange, I promised him the first glass of boozy cider), and then I got to work.

In went ALL the Fall spices and OMG........it's literally Fall in a glass!

I can't wait for you to try this and when you do don't forget to tag your photos #amenuforyou so I can see your creations!

Cook Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 cups fresh apple cider
  • 1 orange, cut in half
  • 2 sticks cinnamon
  • 2 star anise
  • 4-6 pods cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 shot of bourbon per glass (Bulleit and Four Roses are my favs)

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a heavy Dutch oven and bring to a boil.
  • Turn down the heat, simmer on low for 20-30 minutes. Be sure to simmer on the lowest setting because you don't want all the goodness evaporating!
  • Serve hot in mugs.
  • Stir in one shot of bourbon and enjoy!
