The best margaritas are made very simply with only 100 percent agave tequila. I like to use Cuervo 1800, Patron Silver, Herradura, or Don Julio. And I especially love Reposada which is a style of tequila where tequila is aged in oak barrels for anywhere from 2 to 12 months. This creates a much smoother tequila than non-aged tequila. There is no sugar or added ingredients in this margarita for the tequila to hid behind, so you want to use top shelf. A splash of Cointreau and you're all set!
Ingredients
- Salt, for rimming the glass (optional)
- Ice
- 3 ounces tequila (blanco, 100 percent agave)
